Elevating the tone of political discourse...

in the Connecticut Democratic primary.

"He was a coward ... and he's clearly a liar...."

If a Republican said this, would it be name-calling?

It's odd that this occurs, in Australia when a person goes on active service their name is placed on what is called a "nominal list".

What this does is put their name, rank, service/regimental number, operation code name and theatre of conflict on the database at the Australian War memorial in Canberra (our national capital).

This tends to keep politicians honest when it comes to their individual milatary service record.

As an example i served in Rwanda on operations UNAMAR & TAMAR (medical aid & tactical aid) and DAMASK (Naval blockade duty in the Persian Gulf) My kids can log in to the database and get a precis of my operational duties. In Aust this extends back to WW1 so it's a pretty nice way for kids to track their family military history.
