I am wondering whether I am seriously weird...
I have a serious problem wearing socks that don't match. I found myself frantically looking for a matching pair of socks to wear, even though I was going to wear knee-high boots and no-one would see my socks.
As I fumbled through the drawer, I was scolding myself for this stupid attitude. It does not matter whether socks match or not. Stop this! You're wasting time!
Is this an offshoot of the idea that people must wear clean underwear in case they are in an automobile accident and someone in the hospital might see their underwear?
I finally found a pair that matched. What a relief!

You are not stupid at all, or at least you're in a good and noble company.
British officers in colonial army considered proper shaving in all circumstances a necessary method of keeping their morale high.
I insist on serving my meals with napkin, change of plates and glasses when i dine alone - I could have just ate out of a pot with a spoon. But that's a matter of principle.

Not weird, just forward thinking. Wearing a mismatched pair means that there is another mismatched pair lurking in the drawer. A mismatched pair might not matter today, but what if you have to wear the other MMP and boots are not an option?
I'm exactly the same way. I try to match a baseball cap with my shirt and/or jacket, so I am probably a little insane.
Tatiana: you reminded me of this, which is totally off-topic; when my brother had his own apartment he did not own any dishes. He just ate a can of tuna over the sink!
I will continue the quest for matching socks.
My wife bought my daughter a few sets of kicky, cool socks that deliberately didn't match. She bought several of the same patterns, and re-mated them so that all the pairs did match. :/

I avoided patterns in my last few spates of sock acquisition, but I did not do so well in color matching; the very dark blues and the blacks are distinguishable, but it takes better eyes than mine.

It wasn't me, I swear. I'm mathematically challenged. I can't even figure out what an algorithm is.
I think it was George W Bush's fault.
By the way, CG, the light in my bedroom was so bad that I once went to work in one black shoe and one navy blue shoe. They were both pumps, though.
