Cool it, protesters!

Protesters are called a "mob!"

Rep. Lloyd Doggett's office is calling the protesters who swarmed him in Austin over the weekend a "mob," and blaming the chaos on the local libertarian and Republican activists.

The Doggett protests also appear to be part of a larger organizing effort by Tea Party activists who are sending out guidance on how to disrupt a public event by a member of Congress.

I believe that by acting unruly and threatening, protesters allow their critics to dismiss them as "Republicans" and worse. It's playing into their hands. Show up, wave your (homemade) sign, be polite, and stand there.

In short, act like ladies and gentlemen.

I agree with you 100%, miriam.

On the other hand, I've noticed that those of the lefter persuasion tend to call anything that disagrees with them "mob tactics" or start crying about being persecuted even when merely asked questions in a socially acceptable manner.

So I have to reserve judgment on what really is or isn't a "mob" by seeing the tape. Not that I don't believe that "my side" is capable of having hotheads cause problems - I'm sure there are some.

But on the other hand excessive whininess often goes along with victim politics - you play victim in one area and it bleeds into others. Kind of like when the Dixie Chicks claimed their "First Amendment" rights were being infringed upon because people didn't want to buy their album.

"Kindness should grow proper fists"(c).

Nice-behaved, civilized and calm crowd is what gave National-Socialists of last century the opportunity to go rampart on the asses of the polite opposition.

Left screams about civil war - they should get their wish.

And now, the left is currently pissing and moaning and bitching over tea party protestors booing and hissing and shouting at their elected “betters” who wish to pontificate at “town halls” without interruption. Tough shit. It’s time we took our skirts off (sorry - just an expression - I don’t mean to come off as sexist with that :)) and gave them a taste of their own damn medicine. For the past 8 years, they have consistently shouted down and refused to let conservative speakers talk at college campuses. And we’re just so damned polite we let it happen. Let’s see how they like it when the tables are turned.

Agree, absolutely.
