A spot of bother

My computer up and died on me. The installation of a new mouse and keyboard did nothing for the poor dear.

I lost all kinds of data. Fortunately, I have a back-up service from HP. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to contact them. Wow, do they have a lot of products and services! Of course, I don't know my account number either.

I'm not looking forward to installing the new baby, especially since it weighs 42 lbs and has to be lugged upstairs.

So excuse me while I sit shiva for my old computer. I will be back soon.

  1. Isn't "Shiva" from Hinduism? I thought that you were Jewish? Or do you just practice Hinduism on electronics?

  2. I'm a little confused on my customs here. Does this mean I need to bring you a casserole?

  3. However you spell it, shiva is not Hindu. I know what you mean, Miriam. It's like losing the past all at once. A sudden, overwhelming case of Alzheimers. Grief ain't in it. At least you have a backup. I'm still recalcitrant in that department, so I make frequent Zip drive copies of the stuff I really need.

  7. My computer died on me Saturday morning as well. Fortunately, I had just taken a backup of everything and with a lot of effort was able to reinstall everything.

When in doubt, call their main customer service line, and ask for help. They'll help you as much as they can.

  8. I have always seen it spelled siva. But I'm sure the Destroyer God can spell it anyway he chooses.
